The journey starts for me in Maspalomas, on the south coast of Gran Canaria. I leave beautiful Dunas and take a bus to San Bartolome’ de Tirajana. From there it’s about 15km of amazing mountain walk towards La Cumbre to reach the highest peak of the island – Roque Nublo 1949m…and make it on time for the last bus back!

I believe these inspirational paintings of Rassouli connect perfectly with beautiful poem ‘Imagine A Woman’, by Patricia Lynn Reilly. Their interrelation give me a vision of my inner world and kindly reminds me who I am.

Imagine A Woman

Joy Vibrations

Imagine a woman who believes it is right and good she is a woman.

A woman who honors her experience and tells her stories.

Who refuses to carry the sins of others within her body and life.

Pilars of Life

Imagine a woman who trusts and respects herself.

A woman who listens to her needs and desires.

Who meets them with tenderness and grace. (more…)

The Journey

I was contemplating this poem for a while now – a kind of internal meditation for me – how strongly it expresses courage and self love as right things in life…

.

The Journey

.

One day I finally knew what I had to do, and began,

though the voices around me kept shouting their bad advice,

though the whole house began to tremble

and I felt the old tug at my ankles.

.

“Mend my life!” each voice cried. But I didn’t stop.

I knew what I had to do, though the wind pried

with its stiff fingers at the very foundations,

though their melancholy was terrible.

.

It was already late enough, and a wild night,

and the road full of fallen branches and stones.

But little by little, as I left their voices behind,

the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds,

and there was a new voice

which I slowly recognized as my own,

that kept me company as I strode deeper and deeper into the world,

determined to do the only thing I could do,

determined to save the only life I could save.

.

This time traveling bears went to Tenerife, Spain. They needed a warm and sunny winter. They followed the routes to La Teide to climb volcano, Parque Nacional de Las Canadas  with its mystic mountains, beautiful Masca and the wild beaches on the North of the island – their secret location ;-)
