Puerto Mogan and its surroundings

This beautiful canarian village has become my home for a while. The amazing views and quiet settings of La Venecia de Canarias has given me a real boost of energy during this never-ending winter. Avoiding high season I managed to get the most of this wonderful island, including lonely walks on the hills and cliffs and meditation in the heart of nature. I could fully enjoy the present moment with fantastic scenery, great local produce and friendly locals…let’s say it clearly, the biggest problem I could have was the sand in my hairs!

It is challenging turning towards my fears, bad feeling and discomfort and not trying to avoid them. I just wonder how important it is to embrace those feelings, wanting to know more about them.

When despair for the world grows in me

and I wake in the night at the least sound

in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be

I go and lie down where the wood drake

rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.

I come into the peace of wild things,

who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief.

I come into the presence of still water.

And I feel above me the day-blind stars

waiting with their light.

For the time

I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
